A HANDSOME RETURN. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
Cromwell, October 5. The Cromwell mine tributers got a cake of 8260z of gold from 319 tons quartz. This represents four months' work by 10 men, each of whom, after the company takes 25 per cent., receives £200 as his share. This is not a bad cheque for four months' wages. . The Electric dredge No. 2 was silted up owing to an accident, but has been released after some trouble, * The drought seems to have broken at last. It has been raining nearly all yesterday and to-day.
