At the fourteenth move' ■pontiou is : Black men on 9, 13, 14, k 20 ; White men ou 15, 21, 25, k 23— While to move. Play 23 19 and win at once; instead of this "Berta" plays 15 10, and takes over 20 moves to force a win. Of course, the above does not upset (he problem, but it is a point against it
Problem 1496 (No. 3 in Competition) is unsound. See Mr tfrenuan's solution which appeared in WitnfßS not so long sioce.
Problem 1515 (No 22 in Competition).— White to play. - "S-m Mick" plays 28 24, etc. ; try 6 2 or 25 22 and White can draw. _
Problem 1517 (No. 24 in Competition).— Would like '" Sam Slick" to sbow a.win at second move. He plays 2 6 and Black wins ; instead of 2 6 try 10 6, 1 10, 2 6, and where is the win ?
