THE J. G. WARD FARMERS' ASSOCIATION.

A number of more or less formal matters affecting the Ward Farmers' Association came before his Honor Mr Justice Williams in Chambers en the 4th inst., and were uncontested. Mr Woodhouse by Messrs T. M. Macdonald and Son, of Invercargill) appeared in support of each motion on behalf of the I association. j The first was a summons for the inspection j by the liquidator of the association of books and documents of the Colonial Bank. Mr Haggibt appeared to represent the Colonial Bank liquidators. — Mr Woodhouss eaid that these liquidators had been served with the summons, aud i consented to the application, but it now i appeared that the books were not in their j custody, but in that of the Bank of New Zea- '• land. He understood that the summons had been served on the bank, bub that Mr Hosking had no instructions to appear. — Mr Hosking, who happened to be present, said the Bummons had only been served the previous day, and the • matter was one for the head office. There had ' beea no time to get any instructions. — Mr Woodhous9 asked that the order should be made ex parte, — Mr Hosking suggested that the court had no power to make the order in the absence of the bank. — His Honor thought there the court had power to made the ordec ex parte. As to the second summonp, the order was — " Accordingly, by Mr Fisher, as the person in whoße ouitody the books are."
