AGRICULTURAL HALL.

THE OPENING DATE. A meeting of the directors of the Agricultural Hall Company, the committee of the A.- and P. {Society, and delegates from the Liedertafel and Orchestral Societies v?a.3 held on Monday afternoon to consider the proposed alteration of tho date for the opening of the building. There were present — The Hon. Thos. Fergus (chairman), Messrs W. Patrick, T. Brydone, A. M'Futlane, J. Anguij, F, Oldham, J. Shiels, A. Matheson, J. Lethbridge, Jas. Smitb, F. L. Jones, J. Timson, J. Hopcraft, J. R. Morris, J. Goomba, and A. A. Finch. Mr P. Sargood wrote suggesting that the opening concey. fc D 8 fixed for Monday, Jane 21. The Chaiksian stated that it was the intention of a number of busiuess people to illuminate their premises on June 22, and it had been suggested in consequence that it would be inadvisable to hold the opening concert on the same evening. As the hall would be occupied by exhibits for the show on Wednesday, the only other night left was Monday, the 21st. The meeting was therefore called in order that the matter might be discussed. Mr Brydone said that the proposed illuminations on Tuesday night had assumed such dimensions, and as many people who would like to have come to the concert would not now be able to do ao he thought it was incumbent upon them to alter the night if possible. Plenty of time was available to make the alteration, but it depended to a large extent upon those who were to provide the music as to wher.her the change would be convenient for them. The opening of the kindergarten bazaar was on the Monday night, bub he did nob think the concert would affect that. Mr Finch said that the holding of the concert on Monday night would not sffecc the Orchestral Society, and as for the illuminations the members oi the society would like to see them as well ss other people. Mr Timson observed that if the shops were to be opened en Monday night some of the Liedertafel members would be away, otherwise the change vsou'.d not affect him. Mr BS'Fablane and Mr Patrick thought that the shops would close on Monday night. After some further discussion it was decided, on the motion of Messrs Finch and Jones, to alter the date of the concert to Monday, June 21. " The Chairman said he only hoped that all would now put their shoulders to the wheel and work as hard as possible to make the concert a succef 5. By altering the opening night to Monday they had done a great deal for the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. They hid given them an extra day in which to get the exhibits in place, and by that means they would have four days' show instead of three. The programme now would ba : Opening Orchestral and Liedertafel concert on Monday night, illumination of Agricultural Hall Tuesday night, and winter show on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
