A TRIP ROUND THE WORLD.

The Key. J. J. Lewis gave an account of somo of the countries and cities he visited during his recent tour to a large au-Hence afc the Trinity Wesleyan Schoolroom on Wednesday night, 12lh. Starting from Auckland .oa to San Francisco, New York, Boston, Washington, Chicago, and other American cities, the lecturer gave his views on the leading characteristics of the people, contrasting New Yorkers with residents of San Francisco, and referred to the extremes of" Democracy and Conservatism generally in America, the social and domestic habits, &o , of the people. He spoke enthusiastically oa the stupendous work o£ Nature in the Niagara Falls, and dwelt on the feeling of the whites precluding their mixing with the blacks. He also gave a description of the working of the Corn Exchange of Chicago. Crossing to England in one of those imaiease and palatial Atlantic steamers, the lecturer took his hearers through England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, and the Isle of Man, and gave a word picture ol tho softness of English lake scenery aa compared with our own southern lakes. He thought, however, out Otira Gorge presented a scene in Nature's handiwork not to be found anywhere in the whole of America. From England the Continent was visited, and Mr Lewis enlarged on the beauties of all the chief cities he visited, and closed a most interesting account of his travels with some particulars of the Colosseum, the Forum, and Catacombs of ancient Rome. Altogether the lecture was most interesting and instructive, and was no doubt thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Several anthems were sung by the choir and a solo by Mr J. Lane, Miss Oliver played the accompaniments.
