A CLAIM FOR DAMAGES.

In tho Magistrate's CourL before Mr R. Beetham to-day, Matthew Livingstone, a wellknown bookmaker, brought an action againsb Mr Rattray (secretary of the Christchurch Racing Club), Mr Wauklyn (one of the stewards), and Constable Flewellen, claiming £200 damage for assault, consisting in being pub off the New Brighton racecourse at the races on December 16. Livingstone bad a horse running at the meeting, and Mr Solomon, who appeared for him, raised the point that he thereby had a monetary interest in the meeting, which required his presence on the course, and that he should have been allowed time to remove his horse from tho course, but he was not. The magistrate reserved his decision,
