OTAMA.
April 27.— Our farmers are now busy carting away their grain and the local riding at. Otamita is blocked witji grain waiting for truck*, which are very hard to get. An improved method is cow in vogue at to who is to be the fortunate person to get a truck when they come in— viz., by balloting for them. Formerly there was occasionally some very hot disputes and sometimes a tug of war, but with this lystem all that is avoided. Harvest Home.— Mr and Mrs M'Allan gave a harvest home" in the hall here on Friday evening. There was a nice gathering of their friends and neighbours, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Our School— The contract for painting the school buildings is now let. Our school comInittee and tho Education Board do things very cautiously, as thit has been talked of for a long time. School Committee Election.— The following II tho result at the school committee election on Monday :— Messrs D. Robertson (chairman), D. M'Bain, R. Walker. John Hartley, James M'Meekin, N. Key, and T. Logan. Entertainment.— A variety company gave an entertainment in the hall on Monday night, which was fairly patronised.
