NEW COCKSHUTT PLOUGHS. /CHAMPIONS OF CANADA AND SCOT\y . LAND. LEAD THE WORLD. LOCAL TESTIMONY. • We append a couple of testimonials from the North Island and two from the South ; and are now showing the present eeason's improved two and three furrow, adjustable width, long mouldboard Steel Ploughs, for two and three horses respectively. We are again meeting with & bri6k demand, and shall clear our stock before the ploughing season is far advanced. We have made the price £10 10s double-furrow and £15 15s treble-furrow, free on rail or wharf, Dunedin. Terms are less 2£ per cent, for cash, or net by approved bill at lour months. These implements would have been good value at £17 and £21, and in" makiDg the price a low one for cash we were determined to keep out all abuses from the trade, aud we have therefore no money or time "to waste in competitive or exhibition trials. Our local testimonials must spenk for us, and any further informat : on about the ploughs must be gathered from inspection of the implements themselves here or at our agencies. We offer the best value in the world, and if anything else had been necessary we should have added £3 each to our prices, and could then have indulged in trials and at the same time have delivered magnificent value. Farmers must remember that every time it is the farmer who payr, and all expenses thrown upon implement men are anticipated in advance, and included in the price of the goods, unless, as in the present case, the representative elects to shun all unnecessary display and expenses and say, " There's the implement ; let it speak for itrelf." All ploughs taken from agencies must have railage upon them paid by purchaser?. All duplicate parts on corretpondinffly low net scale. WELL PLEASED. Hillend, Clutha. 22nd June 1896. I am well pleased with the plough ; the only drawback it has got is in sot being able to alter the width of tho furrow. If you get ploughs that the furrow can be altered you should do a big trade. (Signed) Jas. Litti-e. [Present season's ploughs have adjustable Widths of furrow.] SEND ME ANOTHER, Johnsonvillc, Wellington, NZ., July 2, 1896. The plough I got from you is giviug every satisfaction, and I want you to send me another ; of the same description at once. (Signed) Robt. Bodld. . j SEND ME TWO MORE. Johosonville, July 17, 1896. I herewith enclose cheque for £10 103, being the price of the last plough. I also want two more of fie same sort as soon as you can send thenvto me. I had about a dozen farmers on Wednesday last to see me do some ploughing with mine, with the result that they think it a first-rate implement, and I hope you will soon get a fresh supply, as I think there ' are two or three more thinking of giving orders. Should apyoue in my district write for any information about the Dux plough, you can refer them to me, and I will be happy to let them see it at work any time. I am well known, being one of the oldest residents (Signed) Robekt Bould. (Subsequent orders received from Mr Bould.) A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. " Millbank," Waiwera South, March 22, 1897. I have very great pleasure in certifying that the double-furrow Cockshutt plough I purchased from you last year has given me the greatest satisfaction. It is a positive pleasure to work with it instead of the old cumbersome plough of the and type. I ploughed some 70 acres, mostly on a gritty sabsoi), and the wear on the gocks is scarcely perceptible ; they are good for another 140 acres. The only fault I have with it is that for ploughing tough lea the mouldboards are rather short, but that is a fault easily remedied. I suppose your consignment just to hand will have larger boards ; IE bo, I shall try and get a pair from you for use in lea grouud only. (Signed) William Littlbjohn. (Long mouldboards received this season.) IMPORTANT NOTE. Last season we were out of stock before ploughing in Otago had fairly commenced, and we lost the sale of fully 100 ploughs. Wo are likely to be short again this year, and intending buyers are urged to book in advance — implements to be delivered only at the date they require them. In consequence of the enormous expansion cf the Cockshutt Company's Scottish and general export trade our bulk shipment had not left the factory on the 22ad February, In their letter of that date the Cockshutt Company wrote : "We will send the balance of your order by rail to Vancouver and steamer via Sydney, paying the difference in freight over sailing-vessel rates ourselves. This will be » considerable loss to us, bub Tre have been running all night as icell as day for the pa*t two months, and we are at the present time filled with orders. It is satisfactory to us to be able to report this splendid run of business, but it is no doubt unsatisfactory to you to run the risk of late shipments, and we- therefore forward your plonghs by rail' and steamer at our own expense, reckoning they will' reach you as quickly this way as by tailing vessel, and giving us an extra two months' to overtake orders." Active agents wanted in every district and carrespondenceinvitedfrom storekeepers, blacksmiths, w farmers who are willing to sell these ploughs. BUCKEYE HARVESTER COMPANY AND AGENCIES. 8»j?
