WELLINGTON NOTES. By Canis.

April 9. The schedule of the Blenheim show, to ba held in July (of which I have been shown a rough proof), contains 27 classes, the breeds best catered for being greyhounds, cocker spaniels, smooth collits, and rough collies, each with three classes — viz., dogs, bitches, • and puppies, Fox terriers have four classes, the

extra one being for puppies under sis months. There are two classes for retrievers, and one each for pointers, setters, bulldogs, black-and-fcan terriers, Irish terriers, toy terriers ; also, a Variety and Selling Class, limit £5. Mr R. Wark, of Christckurch, has given a medal for collies, and Mr Kirkpatrick another for fox terriers. Mr A. G. Clifford, of Wellington, judges all classes. Mr Horrax, of the Karori kennels, informs me that he has received a very cordial letter from "Station Shepherd" promising to send his imported working dog to Wellington, and requesting that it may be given a trial with sheep. As Messrs Harrrison and Horrax intend putting one of their best bitches to the dog, there is no doubt but a trial will be arranged, and a number of fanciers invited to witness the interesting sight. Airedales are booming- in this district, and they arc no doubt about the most useful breed for men who keep one all-round dog only. Certainly, it" all the wonderful tales one hears about them are true, they must be veritable canine Solomons ; still, like the Scotchman, I "hae ma doots," and cannot, even on the word of such an authority «£ Rawdon B. Lee, credit them with sufficient speed for coursing the hare.
