WEDDING AT HEATHFIELD.

A very pretty wedding wa* celebrated yesterlay afternoon at Heatbfitld, the residence of jhe Hon. John M'Keuzie, Minister for Lands, the contracting parties being Miss Mina ftl'Kenzie (second daughter of the Hon. J. M'KenEie) and Mr Ernest Atkinson (son of the liite Mr Edward Bland Atkinson). The bridesmaids were Mi^s Atkinson (cister of the bridegroom) and Miss Maggie O*mpbtll (Invercargill), while Messrs H. W. Roll and W. H. iftoxby (cousin of the bridegroom) acted sis groomsmen. The Rev. Mr Clurke, of Palmerston, was the officiating clergyman The ceremony took place on the lawn in tront ot the re*idence, the bridal party s-tauding underneath a triumphal bower which had beeu •srected for the occasion. Mr Urquhart contributed music on tbe bagpipes. There were a large number of visitors pres- nt from various parts of the colony, amongst tbtm being the Hon Jameß Carroll (Actftg Colonial Secretary), the Hon. W. C. Walker (Minister for Education), the Hon. J. G. Ward, Messrs T. Y. Duncan aud T. Purata M H R.'s. A. Le« Smith, H. Clark, W. D*llas, J. P. Maitl&nd, J. F. M. Fraser, J Gilrutb, T. K. Mucdouald (Wellington), J M'Kerrow, A. M'K^trow, A. Burron, N Fleming, A. Gillies, and Dr King (Auckland). The bride wa? attired in a handsome pearl duche-sse satin gown with a plain demi-trained skirt, and a folded bodice tastefully trimmed with chiffon and the uiu*l orange bloeeorns. The travelling costume consisted of a blue cett knd ekirt with a cream vest, in which ehe looked j>»rticularly smart. The brid«Hir»aids were gowned with cream, relieved with buttercup jathes. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a haud«ome diamond brooch, and to the bridesmaids handsome gold baDgles set with diamond* and rubies. The presents were verj numerous and costly, and came from all parts of New Zealand. The bride' 6 parents presented a pair of enlarged photo*, of themselves, beautifully framed. Tbe Hon. Tbe following toasts were proposed and duly honoured: — "The Bride and Bridegroom," proposed by the Hon. J. Carroll, responded to by tbe bridegroom ; ° The Bridesmaids," proposed by Mr Cunuingham and responded to by Mr Roll; "The Bride's jparents," proposed by Mr Arkla and J responded to by the Hon.
