SHOOTING COMPETITIONS.
At their range on Saturday afternoon tha Dunedin Engineers fired the second competition for the challenge cups presented by Messrs Hallenstoin Bros, and Co. and Mr J. HUlop. The conditions were seven shots and optional I sighter at 200, 500, and 600 yards. The day | was very warm with a bright light. The following were tho chief scores in the match :r—
On Saturday afternoon the Dunedin Rifle Club fired th<s first competition for a trophy presented by Messrs A. Briicoe and Co:, the actual scores counting for the club championship. There was again * large attendance of members. ' The weather was beautifully fine with a bright light and slight right front wind. Ranges 500, 600, and 700 yards ; seven shots ab each. On Saturday afternoon the Highland Rifles fired the second oompetibion of No. 1 match foe first and second class shots,' the prizes in each class being two trophies. The conditions were - 10 shots and optional sighter at 300 and 500, yards. The. weather was all that could be desired for good shooting, bub the scores were uot up to the average. The B Battery, N.Z.R.A.V., fired the third competition for their champion belt on Saturday afternoon, eleo a handicap matoh for ammunition prizes. Conditions: Seven shots and sighter at 300, 500, and 600 yards, Seoresi : —
* Ammunition prizes. The North Dunedin Rifles fired their fourth and final competition for the company's belt and other prises at the Peliohet Bay range on Saturday afternoon last. Conditions : Ranges, 600 and 600 yards; 10 nhcts at each, with optioual sighter ; three highest aggregate scores out of the foar competitions to count. The . following were the highest soorea :—: —
The secoud class shots of the same corpß fired their third competition for prizes presented by Sergeant J. Gobbie, Private A. Armstrong, and the Castle Hill Coal Company, the conditions and ranges being the same ag above. Appended are the scores :—
The Port Chalmers Naval Artillery fired the final competition on Saturday afternoon for prizes presented by Lieutenant Dodds, Mr W. Gardner, and the company. Conditions : Ten shots at 300 and 600 yards. The following were the principal scores : —
