»ast week tbat tbe surface tunnel has been extended 14ft. The reef is 2ft oin wide, and gold can be seen in the ttone. The total leDgth of tho upriso from the tunuel is 48ft. The contractors for No. 6 level h»ve extended the level 15ft, tha total distance sines starting being Oft. The country is hard at present. Thirty tons of stone have been sent to the battery. Lord Edward. — Tbe manager reports : " The contractors have finished the sscond contract and are now driving on again. The country for the last 20ft has a very favourable appearance, being broken quartz intermixed with slate. Up-to tbe present we have found no gold in the stone." Mr Wilson, acting inspector of mines, arrived here last evening and remains for a few days, during which he will visit the new find in the . Victoria Range. It is expected the track will soon be completed to tbe top of the range.
