A letter from the Tapanui Racing Club was read asking if tho Dunedin Jockey Club would move at the next conference — " That country clubs pay their stakes the day after the meeting."—The Secretary reported that under rule 74 all clubs were allowed 15 days in which to pay stakes.— lt was resolved—" That as a subcommittee from the conference are revising the rules, the Dunedin Jockey Club suggest to them that the rule be altered to seven days." Ellis complaining of the action of the Wyudham Club in not hearing evidence when he entered a protest against Missfire for foul riding in the Wyndham Handioap. — The Secretary reported that this had been referred to the Wyndham Club, and that they had replied that the stewards saw the alleged oross and were of opinion that there was no cross, and did not consider it necessary to call evidence. — It was resolved — " That under the rules the local stewards are the judges as to questions of facts, and the Dunedin Jockey Club cannot interfere." A letter from Heddon Bush Sports Club asked the D.J.C. to endorse the disqualification of R. M'Kay and the horse Seabreak for two months for infringing their rules. — Agreed to. A letter from the Gore Racing Club was read stating that they had disqualified the b g Saunterer and his owner and rider (J. J. Orbell) for one month from the 14th inst. for inconsistent running. Letters were read also from Mr G. M. Bell, president of the Gore Club, appealing against the decision — It was resolved — " That the disqualification be endorsed, and that Mr Ball be informed that as this is a question of faot under Rule 131 the D.J.C. cannot interfere." It was agreed that all bookmakers and " tote " bettors be not admitted to the Autumn meeting, and that the secretary, be instructed to take the necessary steps to keep them out and to advertise the aama. Two new members were eleoted. It was resolved — " That in future the names of oandidaies proposed for election as members shall be placed on the notice calling the meeting, such notice to be issued not less than seven days before the meeting."
