THE GLENBROOK MURDERS.

BUTLER ARRESTED. New Yobk, February 2. Butler has been arrested in San Franoisoo. Later particulars of the arrest show that the detectives boarded and searched the Swanbilda, and finding Butler took him ashore. San Francisco, February 3. The extradition papers have been submitted to the proper authorities, and the prisoner will probably return by the Monowai on Saturday. His kit contained Lee Waller's jewellery and shipping discharges, Mrs Welter's portrait, Harwood's chemistry diplomas, and Preston's coat, vest, pookei ■ book (with initials " H.A."), and two sovereigns. He state* that he left 'Frisco for Australia four years ago as a seaman of the Star of Russia. He admits he was ■ zinhaoed of taking Welle; 's name, but he declines to admit he wa* acquainted with him. He declares his name is Elgno, and be is amused at his position, r smirking that he was inuoount until he was proved guilty. He was wearing Lee Welter's boots when he was arrested. Ella Butler, of Napa, claims Butler as her deserting husband. - Bydnkt, February 3. There was considerable excitement when tbo news of Barter's arrest reached Sydney at 5 o'clock this morning. The police have recovered Captain Lee Weller'e rifle, sold by Butler taa second-hand dealer. The police here received only bare confirmation of the news of the arrest of Butler.
