As they neared the goal Yorker was hanging very much from the whip, and bin repeated attempts to overhaul proved of no avaiL In the meanwhile La Sagesse, Teufel, aud Imposition -were dying away, and leaving the Abingdon Mile Bottom they resigned to Laodamia, who, like Omnium II and Victor Wild, had been outpaced in the early stages of the contest. A little further on Laodamia passed Chitchat, and thence there was no change ; and with Winkfield's Pride sailing home a gallant winner by three •lengths, Yorker held -the same advantage over Laodamia.
