A couple of furlongs further on Stimulant and Tiara were together in front, Bay Bell being second and Victim third. Van Buren then began to go through the field, and just before the straight was reached he was in command, with B*y Bell and Stimulant lying handy. Coming up the straight Van Buren increased his lead, and won by a clear length from Bay Bell, Stimulant being about the same distance away third, and Tiara fourth. Time, 2min 17isec. At the conclusion of the race the rider of Andrew protested against the stakes beiugpaid over to Harry Sneaker on the ground of inconsistent running, but the protest was dismissed. A neck-and-neck race subsequently ensued down the straight b -tween the two, and Arline jußt got home by a nose in front of Campbell, Victim being a few lengths away third. Time, lmin I7sec. Dividends, £5 14s and £2 175. T. Buddicomb protested against Arline being declaied the winner, on the ground of interference on the part of Rae, who rode Arline. It was alleged that Rae struck Buddicomb's horse four times over the nose. The stewards, after taking evidence with regard to the matter, dismissed the protest. HANDICAP TIME TROT.
