Beloved, the time draws near when wo must part - So deadly near ! The great ship is plunging to be gone, And, love, I hear, As in the distance far, a thousand voicea crying— "Farewell, farewell !" Hark I love, they're calling all ou boavd ; I hear The splashing sound Of loosened ropss, and see the waters move. You give one bound, And now I stand alone, while every wave is' moaning— "Farewell, farewell!" The wailing echoes pierce my tortured heart— ." Come backl" I cry. ' " They must not, dare not, pavt us thus, my own, Or, love, I die!" Hark ! wafted on the breeze that leaves the speeding vessel — "Farewell, farewell!" August 1, 1896. —Ada A. R. Ludfobd. '
