DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club, beld last. Thursday, was attended by Messrs J. Stspheneou (in the oh ait) y Taggart, Fleming", Gonrley,' €ook r Short, Miller, and Meentn, THB NEW COURSE. The Ground Selection Committee reported that, in accordance with resolution passed at last meeting, they had again interviewed Mr Go*, with i'flg.*rd to the Bit&for a course plap«d under offer by him,- the result of the intetview being thtt they had purchased sections. 2, 3, and 4,, block I, Taieri distrcb (close to Wingatui railway station), for the amount placed at their disposal— the total areabeing 155 acres. The matter, had now Tieen placed in the hands of the club^ solicitors to arrange for the necessary transfers of the ground to the club, and trustees would now have to be appointed. It was resolved that the report be' adopted and the treasurer authorised to sign cheques on . - completion oi the traasfer. Rei-olved— " That bhe Hon. George M'Lean (p*e»i<ient), Messrs John Stepheuson (vicepresident), F. Meenan,, J. H»zlett, and W. H. Taggart be appointed truatees." The secretary was empowered to secure sketches of some of the principal courses and buildings in Victoria and elsewhere. GENEKAL. A letter was. received- from the' Obago 'Hunt Club asking* for a donation towards their funds —Resolved, that £50 (the usual donation) be granted.. ' . Permission was granted to the National Coursing Club to hold some. foot races during the. Waterloo Cup meeting. The transfer, from Major George to Ross Heaton of Qaickflre, by Carbine— Hestia, was passed.
