Oteramika Matters.
- TO TH» BDITOR. * , ' Sir,— As an old settler and reader of the Wiv ness, I hope you will allow me a little space. Ib seems you are to hare ' a correspondent; at Oteramika, and one who is not too modest to call - himself a bona Jlde newsgiver. Let me show yih&ttbisbimajiae newsman gives you for us to read. He says Macallum and 00. are erecting a mill, &o. No such firm heve. Several farmers hare are named Macallum, and it is unfair to pretend they are starting a mill. The firm is M'Oallum and Co. Then he says Collings , and Roff are making another start. This is a/ serious itatement, as ib means, no doubt, that? Mr Collins— not " Collings "—is interested in a/ mill here, but as he is the manager of the New Zealand Pine Company it is unjust, and perhaps libellous, to say he is a partner in r rival mill. Very likely th« Pine Company will have something to say in the matter. This shows whab your Oteramika sorjbe says we will "be glad to learn." We have gofc on well in the pa»b, and I believe we can do so in the future, without a man telling us his little yarns and calling them bona'jide. "Your Own" ab One-tree Point has done us justice during the past year, and we will stick to him.— l am, &0., Oteramjka, June 29. No Conceit.
The timber trade in Auckland is briskt Tho floods in the Thames brought down large quantities of logs to the mills, whioh have proved very acceptable.
