For original throe-move problems never before published. Prizes, £1 1b and 10s b'd ; Solvebs Mb 6d. Problems intendei for competition may now be sent in. Not more than two will be accepted from each composer. The competition is for threemove problems only. All problems of which the envelope beara a post murk dated not later than August 31 -'ensuing will be accepted. The ounpetition is not limited to New Zealand composers, but compositions from abroad will be accepted if received in time. Prizes will be awarded as.iv the competition just cloned. Solvers will be awarded •3 points for correct solutions, 3 points for a "cook," (of which only one will be credited), and 5 points for proof that the problem is not original or baa been already published. Problems intended for competition must be clearly diagrammed, and'klso the position given in theForsytK notation*! Full solutions must accompany the problems. All problems sent in will be published in the order in which they are received. Solvers are invited to forward criticisms on the pioblems, which criticisms will also be pubfished. Each problem must be distinguished by a motto, and the composer's mmc forwarded in a sealed envelope, not to be opened unftl after adjudication. Competent judgos will be appointed to determine the relative merits of the competing problems, but the opinions of solver* are also invited, who will please, if they think fit to, indicate their opinions— by awarding marks, of which 10 points may be taken as the maximum. ,
