London, June 24. The first test match between the Australian crioketers and All-England Sloven was concluded to-day, the English team winning by six wickets. Stoddart made 30 (not out), and Gunn 13 (not out). , The last 26 runs were knocked up in 17 minutes. Brown hit up several in dangerous proximity to the fieldsmen, and was once missed by Kelly. • The fielding of the visitors was excellent. The scores were :— Australians. June 25. . The Australian cricketers began their match against Notts at Nottingham to-day. The home team consists of Attewell, Flowers, Wright, Dxon, Bennett, Pike, Guttridge, Brown, Jones, Gunn, and Shrewsbury. Those standing out of the colonial team are Kelly, Donnan,' and M «Kibbin. The weather was floe, but the wicket heavy from recent rain.- The attendance was only model ate. At the luncheon adjournment Notts had lost three wickets for 113 runs. The first innings of the Notti team closed for 268. The principal soorea were :— Shrewsbury 39, Jones 36, Gunu 36, Attawell 24, Wright 16, Dixon 28, Pike (not out), 41, Guttridge 16, Bennett 17. Giffen secured four wiokets for 92 runs, Trumble three for 69, Eady one for 34. The batting of the county men was excellent all round. Shrewsbury and Jones put on 52 for the first wicket, and Jones and Gunn 56 for the second. Pike and Bennett gave a lot of trouble at the finish, increasing the score by 36 runs before the last wicktt fell. June 26. The match between the Australians and Notts was resumed to-day, when the weather was fine and the wicket in good condition. The Australians had lost five wickets for 190 rams up to the luncheon adjournment. The total score in the innings was 246, or 23 behind the first inniogs of the home team. The principal scores were made by Darling 44, Graham 96, Ttott 15, Eady 12, Gregory 10, Giffen 12, Iredale 13, Trumble (nob ou6) 18, Jones 18. Jones took three wiokets for 61 runs, Bennett three for 68. In their second inniugs the Notts team have lost three" wickets for 94 runs. Graham aud Darling knocked up their runs very quickly, the former playing faultlessly and with great freedom. His sooro inoluded eight 4'B. Trott scored slowly, and wa» dismissed by a marvellous citch 'by Shrewsbury at point. Jones was missed before he had scored, and then played a vigorous innings. In their second inuings Notts opened by compiling runs freely, but with the fall of the first wicket runs came slowly. The fielding of the home team left nothing to ba desired, but that of the visitors was none too good. June 27. In their second innings Nottingham completely collapsed, the last wicket falling with the total at 148. Shrewsbury scored 23, Jones 29, Gunn (not out) 49, Brown 26. . These four were responsible for all but 19 of the runs scored. Jones took four wickets for 49 runs, Giffen four for 29, Trumble one for 13. The Australians, requiring 170 rang to win, made the requisite number with the loss of only four wickets, and thus won by six wiokets. The chief scores were :— Darling 18, Trott 32, Gregory 18, Iredale (not out) 94. Attewell took one wicket for 21 runs, Brown one for 22, and j Gunn one for 23. Gunn's not out innings was a fine display of cricket. Iredale played tho best crioket he has shown during the tour, but he gave two eaiy chances— one with his score at 72 and again at 88.
