OTAGO SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
The monthly meeting of the Otago School Commissioners, held on the 16th, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chairman), J. Walker Bain, W. Dallas, and A. Baldey.
The Otakia Drainage Board wrote aiking for a subscription towards the pulsion wheel on the Taieri Plain — Consideration of the matter was allowed to staud over till next meeting. Mr C. M'Arthur applied for permission to cut a water race through run 254b.— The application was deoliued. Mr J L. M 'Donald forwarded a letter from Mr A. Robertson asking for a roadline through section 11, block XIV, Wendon, and suggesting that a strip of land along the south boundaiy of the section, one chain wide, be reserved for a roadline. — The suggestion was approved. Leave of absence was granted to Mr James Gresn during the remainder of the parliamentary sesaion. It was resolved to give notice to all tenants in arrear with rent that their arrears must be paid by June 30 ; the secretary at next meeting to table a list of all outstanding rents. Mr Jervis Wilson wrote objecting to the leasing of section 8, block XIV, Wendon, on the_g?ouna that it was required for a Bchool site.— Pho letter was received. The Secretary stated that he had applied to the Railway department to supply a crossing into sectiou,6o, block VII, Moerakl district, as the Dunback railway had completely cut off the communication to the section from the road.— He was instructed to arrange with the Railway department for a crossing into the section in question. It was reported that all the lots offered on lease at the sale at Gore had been taken up, with the exception of the Wendon and Greenvale runs. Accounts amouuting to £78 9s 3d were passed for payment, and a quantity of routine business was dealt with.
At the annual conference of delegates from the Counties Associations which opens at Wellington on Friday, June 19, is is anticipated that fullj 70 delegates will b9 prcs».nb.
