At the trial at the Supreme Court of Mn Looher for attempted murder, Dr M'Konzie said he had been consulted bj accused in July 1891 for astigmatism, which was liable to affect the mind, causing epilepsy and various disturbances. She told witness she felt inclined to get over the breastwork into the harbour. A person in her condition of mind haying a delusion that another person. was trying to injure her would ba likely to take extreme measures to defend herself. It was often the case that the first definite act of lunacy which* a person committed was one of Tiolenoe. He had am interview with accused in gaol and came to the conclusion that she was ineane. She was under the delusion that Norbury had some* secret power over her, and was persecuting her for some other object than that nerely of getting his money. She said bq« shot Norbary because he was " net fit to live." The law could not do ft, and he had to be removed,, She was not sorry that she did the act, hot was sorry (hat «he did not shoot herself too.
