OBITUARY.

London, May 31. Sir J. Russell Reynolds, physician, is dead, Professor Sir J. Russell Reynolds, M.D., F.R.S., F.RO.P., F.Z.S., was bom at Romsey, Hampshire, in 1828, and educated at University Collego, London, where he obtained three gold medals in medicine, in clinical medicine (''JFellowea "), and in obstetric medicine ; silver medal in chemistry (priza essay). He graduated as M.B. in 1851, and took his M.D. degree in )852. Commenced practice in Großvenor street in the Baine year. He was electtd Fellow of University College in 1855, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1859, and was honoured by various American and Continental societies. He was Lumleian Lecturer, Censor, and HarveianOratorat tha Royal Collegcof Physicians. He was appointed assistant physuciau to the Hospital for Sick Ohildren in 1855 ; and to the Westminster Hospital in 1857; and lecturer on forensic medicine in 1858 ; assistant physician to University Collego Hospital in 1859; and Holme professor of clinical medicine, and physician, in 1862; professor of the principles and practice of medicine in University College in 1865; member of the Council, 1888 ; and physiciau to the* Guardian Assurance office in 1862. He waa Emeritus professor of medicine in University College, aud consulting physician to University College Hospital, and has .bean physician in ordinary to her Majesty's household since 1878. Professor Reynolds was the author of a number of valuable medical works, and was editor of and a contributor to a "Jdystem of Medicine," by various authors.
