OWAKA.

~ April 13.— The bustle of the holiday season is jiow over, and we have resumed the even " tenor of our ways. As usual, we had a large num- ■ ber of visitors. The annual cricket and football ' tnatches were held, and both resulted in favour of Caversham. I believe if all ths Owalca cricketers . had turned up— if Gow and'Abercomby had been tolayinj for tneir club— lnstead of a defeat by 20 ' iruns, they should have gained a victory. The footballers had hard luck. They played very well, and oa the whole bad the best *t tho game,

but were defeated by a penalty goal. The passing is somewhat deficient as compared with th.vt of the Cavewham men. Concert.— The usual football concert was held in Paterson's Hall on Friday night, and was well attended. The president, Mr John Blair, prssided. ' Religious —Mr John Wilkinson conducted meetings in the Baptist Chapel, on Good Friday, Saturday, and Easter Sunday, and dealt with our Lord's second coming. The services were well attended. On Thursday, April 0, Miss Bacon, of the Baptist Missionary Society, gave an interesting address on " Work in India."
