'.».• The-Fredo and Bayly Variety Company gave their farewell performance at the City Hall on Saturday evening, and had a very full houfe—the besb of the season, Madame Fredo's exhibitions of skill and feats of strength were greatly admired, little Lars and Bubbles maintained their well-earned popularity. Mr Bristell gave astonishing proof of his 'skill as an acrobat, and the vocalists and comedians entertained and amused the audience. Nothing could speak more plainly in favour of the allround efficiency of the company than does the steady increase that has taken place in the attendance during the season now closed. A matinee given during the afternoon was well attended. . ■ Mr Robert Kennedy, the well-known Scottish vocalist, is to pay an early visib to the colonies again. *. ■ To judge by the success of " Trilby " in £be English provinces, Mr Dv Mfcuriet's piece ■hoold have a great future before it at the London Haymarket. Some of the New York papers complain that this is a deplorable waste of splendid advertising material, for the Americans, being a democratic people, dearly love a lord —or anything near one.
