Sc. Hippo continues to do good work, and will be Mr Nathan's selected for the Cup. Their second string, Three Star, met with a mishap last Saturday which should prevent him from contesting the Cup. He was doing a smart gallop on the grass, when he swerved into the rails, smashed through them, and then dashed on to the course proper. The usual chain was stretched across this, and the colt, colliding with itcame a bad cropper, cutting his knees and stifl°. He was not being worked when he was oa the course this morning. Osculator, who is looking very well, did a strong mile and a half in compauy with The Possible last Saturday. Mr Gollan's hor.-e was jaded when he came here, hut he has picked up sinrc, and is doing well. If he keeps well he is my fancy for the Cup. Osculator must go so near winuiDg the Derby that it will be hard to tell the difference. Miller has him looking yeiy well. Iv appearance and style of galloping he is a spletulid advertisement for Hotchkiss. Impulse is doing steady work at Ellerslie, bat niovel a bit short this morning. Pt-gams is C'lining along -n brilliant style, but his brilliance seeuis to disappear when colours are vp. The Hou Mr Onnond'B two-year-old Daring, Defiance, and the 'chaser Tiritea were shipped from Napier by the Flora today. Roscius may not come, as he hurt himself while working yesterday. If he does not come the big Steeplechase should be a good thing for Tiritea, whs is in good nick. Advice has been received here that W. It. Wilson will arrive in Auckland during the present month.

Tho last foaling has been reported from Wellington Park, Lilac (Leolinus— Leila) having produced a colt to Cuirassier. This brings the Park totals up to 11 colti and 19 fillies. „ Major George has instructed Hunter and Nolan to offer the following horses for sale on the 4th January :— Pegasus, Anniversary, Heart of Oak, Admiral Hawke, and The Master.. The major intends retiring fiom racing.
