Notes from Lyell. December 13.
Lyelt., Cocksparrow Dredge.—The dredgemaster reports for the week •—" We have dredged 121 hours for a return of 19oz 6dwt of amalgam. We struck the gold yesterday morning (12ch inst.) about 100 ft from the middle channel. The dirt prospected well. We struck the pug bottom this morning (13th) at 14ft." December 14. Lyell Creek.—The mine manager reports: — " There is nothing fresh to report from the mine. The winze has been sunk 10ft for the week. The reef averages between 4ft and sft in,widtb, the stone beiDg very hard and clean. There is no improvement in the quality, although gold can be seen in every truck load taken out."
