TJEIIItIBLE PRIVATIONS. Thursday Island, November 23. The German New Guinea exploring expedition party, of whose great Bufferings news has been received, was led by a well* known German naturalist, sent out for the purpose of exploration, and the Commandant of Police in German New Guinea. After they had been out two months the rations became exhausted, and the members of the party lived on grass and water. They were attacked by a scourge of poisonous flies and leeches, and the flesh of all festered. Their sufferings were terrible, and all being in an emaciated condition they decided to make for British New Guinea for succour. In attempting to cross a river on a raft the two leaders and a number of natives "were drowned. The survivors had great difficulty in sustaining life, and were almo3t famtehed. They made their way through a dense jungle towardß the coast, where they were met and regoned by a friendly tribe. One bas since died from weakness, and the others are unlikely to recover.
