0 Wellington Bay. thy waters so blue "With luring enchantment brim o'er; 'MM the hills that surrouud >ou so nobly and true Yr nestle like woods on tbe shore. 'Tis sweet in the morning, 0 Wellington Bay, To stand by thy hilv. ry aea 1 While the Sun iv his majeaty wendeth his way, And shineth o'er moorland aud lea. He ca-tuth his beam in thy wati-rs so deep As he shiueth athwart thy faca, Till thy wavelets nwve with a gentle sweep And seem t niched with a beautcom graie ; Then the bills throw their shadows, so darksome yet grand, Along o'er thy suiface so bright ; While the sea-birds flutter ; till anchor'd we stand, Am.tz d at the beauteous sight. So hour after hour the whole diy long Shines the Son in big majesty grave, Till the breeze spiin^eth up with a murmuring song Which echoes from wavelet to wave. Now the Sun groweth weary, but yet ere he dies The waveleti have hu»h«d their sorg - The bieezes aie still'd and the seabirds' cries, The shadows grow deep and long ; Andwhether at evening or whether at morn I list to thy murmuring song, 1 encounter thy beauty supreme as the dawn As ye nestle the hillocks among. 'TL> sweat in the evening, O Wellington Bay, To stand by thy wavelets now still. As over thy wateis blow fa'leth away The day with its good and its ill. And hark ! 'tis the sound as of chiming of bells That floats o'er thy bosom ho deep. Its mujic is sweet as it echoes and swells, Then sinks like an infant to sleep. 'Tis the great town clock he is sounding his chime Ere he strike! h the hour of the day. He would fain h,w<j me know that at last it is time To turn from sweet Wellington Bay.
