There was a good attendance of players, and as the green wae in excellent order for ao early ia the season some good play was witnessed. The match provided a dose finish, tbe Vicepresident's side winning by the narrow majority of 2 points. Afternoon tea was provided on the ground by Mrs D. Reid and Mrs P. Bastings, and proved highly acceptable. Dar> ing the afternoon Mi J. H. Yerex, the local fuotographer, succeeded, in obtaining a One

Brookes, were in attandauce, and contributed ia no tinall dcg«o to the afternoon's enjoyment. Since last year the green has been topdressed, and should pky very well this year. The great need, however, i 3 water. I understand that it is the in*oation of tho club to siuk a well and erect tanks and a windmill at an early date. Until this ia done the club will always be ranked among thore which possts3 mdd fferent greens. The Milton green is the oldest up-couutry one, and the worst to play on, so that the numbers shouM do their level beßt to remove this stigma, and clubs at a distanro would then lojk forward with pleasure tj visiting Milton.
