TAIERI COUNTY COUNCIL.

A special meetir g of the Taieri County Council was held cv Friday, and atteuded by Mr Graham (chairman), Crs Snow, Andrew, and Todd. A. NEW BYLAW. The Chaibman said the only business before the council was to pass a by-law to prevent anyone from committing a l.uifance within the county. Formerly the inspector had to report to the council thfct a »ui?ance had been com- | mitfced. Then the counoil had to give «even dajs' notice. That meant a delay of perhaps six weeks before the ccnnoil could get at the party committing the cuisance. It was there* fore found neeewary to atk thecounly solicitor •to prepare ft by- law to meet cmpb of that kind. The following was a copy of the by-law .— 1. Any person wbo shall himself, or by his servants or agents, bring, place, spread, or have upon any Jand within tho couuty any mghtsoil or foesal matter or any carrion, or any other kind of offensive mattir, whether of tbe like nature or not, so that the tame shall or may bo offensive to persons r-ossirg along or being upon or using any road or public place within the county to such a degree aB shall or may interfere with the iealtb. comfort, or convenience of any such persons, shall be guilty of an offence. 2. On the motion of Cr Snow, seconded by Or Todd, it was resolved by way of special order that the by-law reid by the chairman" be made, and tbat a special meetiDg of the council be held on Friday, November 15, 1895, at 2 p.m. , to confirm the same.
