HYDE.
Sgpikhdbr 23.— A concert and dance in aid of the school funds was held in Mrs Layerty's hall last Fiiday night. There was a capital atten. dance, the hall being filled to the door. Mr P. Kinneys occupied the chair, and opened the proceedings with a few suitable remarks. The concert went off without a hitch, most of the performers teceivlng well ■ merited applause, and several had to submit to encores. Recitations, songs, and dialogues were given by the school children, and the manner in which they wero given was creditable to both teacher and pupils. A farce entitled " Our Three Flats " caused a good deal of amusement, the characters being sustained by Miss Dawson, Miss Trotter, Mw Shields. Mr E Laverty, Mr Lewis, Mr M'Kay, Mr A. Trotter, Mr IL Meade, and Mr O. Laverty. A good deal of time and trouble had been expended in mailing the proceedings a success, and tho result should be very satisfactory to the Echool committee.
