CHRISTCHERCH NOTES.

By Barker. • , • Doggie matters in and around Christckarch aie at a very low ebb. The auuual meeting of the Christchurch Dog Society has not yet t*ken place, but I understand there is to be no dr g show in this city this year. This is to be regretted, as it makes the aooiety take a very back seat amongst the other dog societies. The hon. secretary has left Christchurch for Wellington, and this, with the want of public support, has earned the committee to bo averse to running the ri*k <>f another failure. * . * Tho New Zealand Kennel Club appears to be in an unsatisfactory position just now. The Wellington Club complains that owing to the difficulty of obtaining quick replies to communications they have to let matters of importance go unattended to, and consequently talk of seceding. This is a great pity, as in Nov. raber last it was decided that the headqu\rters should remain in Christchurch for 12 months, and should then be removed to either Wellington or Duned:n ; so that if they waited fortwo months longer there would be no necessity for having two institutions of the same kiud in New Zealand, and the Registration B jok is of too great value to be discarded. No doubt a great deal of the unsatisfactory condition of the Kennel Club is owiDg to the secretary and treasurer having left Chribt'.hurcb, and so far as known he has not resigned his position, and no new secretary has been appointed.

'.* Dog poi«oniDg still continues here. Three were poisoned this week, one of them being a valuable animal.
