KURI BUSH.
August 12.— Matters in general are very quiet juvt now, people preferring the comfort of home to the tender mercies of the "delightful" weather we are having. 'J ho school children had a little excitement la*t week in the shape of Arbor Day. This was commemorated, not on the Wednesday, but on the "Friday, when, although the weather was not all that could be desired, the trees were planted with great enthusiasm. Several of the committee were unable to be present through press of duties, but the energetic chairman, Mr Keas 1 -, managed to cume down and superintend the planting operations. The trees, I uihv add, were Madly supplied by him. Mr Maurice Quill, with his customary readiness to oblige, ably assisted Mr IOaal; in the accessary labour, while each child helped in the planting of his or her particular tree There were 17 in all of different varieties planted in a sheltered and otherwise favoured spot in the school grounds. The childreu have affixed their names to the Irecs, and are supposed to bestow their attention upon them until next Arbor Day. I sincerely hope that the Irees thus planted may thrive apace, and gladden the hearts of generations of school children.
