I am thawing the ice from about the battery with hot Witter. I do not think it possible to commence caushing to-morrow."
Progress.— The mine manager reports:— "We finished filling in the worked gr«und on Thursday, and since then the bauds have been breaking stone as usual. Eighty tons of quartz have been sent to the battery. The wi^ze below No. 5 level has been sunk a further depth of 7ft for {be week, making a total depth of 83ft. The stone has acain benched into the hanging wall. The battery started crushing yesterday. Ke«jp-it-D«rk.— Ihe mine manager reports: — "Nothing fresh in the stopes. The east end has be-n extended 10ft A f r»-sh make of stone came in on Thursday, and looked very p ommng, but ithas not turned out according to expectation. It is about 6ft long and 2Jft wide. It does not cope down to the floor drive. A little water is coming out. The show must have a connection with a larger body of stone higher ui>."

We discontinued diiving ou No. 6 level, as we have got 70fc to timber. We cannot get the timber through the heavy snow. We have driven on the "tone 23ft. The size of the reef in the face is sft 6in, on payable stone The winze is down 45ft. We discontiuued sinking for the present, and arc driving towards the intermediate level. There is 6ft of payable atone where we are now driving. I don't think we have the proper footwall."
