Gore v. Wyhdham. Thirteen representatives of the Gore Chess and Draughts Cltio joarneyed to Wyndhum in Mr G. Marshall's four-in-hand drag lust Wednesday week to do battle' with the draughts players of Wyndham. Wyndham has long hrH rank as the prcmit-r country draughts club of Southland. This late victory of the Gore Club over Mataura haJcl made every one look forward • to a very even niatcb, in which, perhaps, Gore had the slights? chance of winning. The game began al-oufc 8.30 p.m. Gore was weaker by the absence of Messrs M'Kinna, Anderson, Buchanan, and O'Neill. Wyndham licked the gcrvic; sof Jtfcssra Ay? on and Mitchell. The result wan a3 follows :—: — Goie.

Play was finished about 10.30 p.m., and the game was a very friendly aud pleasant one. Refreshments were offeree the visitors, and nongs and speeches were given. It was half-past 12 before the (iore players set out on their homeward journey. They reached Gore abiut 3.30 a.m.
