NEW ZEALAND BOWLING ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association wai held at Watson's Hotel on Tuesday evening, 6th. la the absence of the president, Mr D M'Pherson was voted to the chair, snd there were nreient — Messra J. Q. Moore, J. H. Louden, W. Wilson, B. R. Green, C. Fynmore, C. Inverarity, J. M'Kay, E. Hogg, T. Moodie, T. R. Doddd, A. Macdonald, A. .Mowat, J. Hislop, and the secretary. An apology for non-attendance was received from Mr H. H. Inglis. A letter was rend from Mr J. W. Mitchell, of Invarcargill, vice-president of the association, in ■which tbat gtntlcman set forth several reasons for declining the office of president, urging, amongst other thiuga, that he considered the office should only be held by a resident of Dunedin or suburbs, who would be on the spot to attend to the business generally. — On the motion of Mr J. Q. Moons, it was reßolved that the better be received, and that, whilst partly agreeing with his objections, the association deeply regret his resignation

The secretary was instructed to get two pairs of standard bowls (adopted by the Scottish Bowling Association, April 2\, 1893), and also full particulars of th« "ihute" used by them in testing bowls.

The annual meeting was fixed for Tuesday, August 20, at 8 p.m., in Watson's Hotel ; and the chairman, treasurer, and secretary were appointed & committee to draw up the annual .report. It was resolved that any notices of 'motion must be handed to the secretary before August 13. The meeting then closed with a vote of thanks to tbe chair.
