The reef at present is 6ft wide. A new make of stone came in last Tuesday. There is more gold to be seen in the langing wall portion of the reef than before, but the new make is poor so far, but should improve as it is driven on. The leading slope has been extended Bft, but as the paddock was full of stone I had to discontinue and start to rife for the second slopo. This is now up 7ft. Thore is no 'change 5n the reef of any note. It continues greatly n^xed with mullock." The contractor for carting qu»rtz has made a atart again, the reason he knocked off being that 'the road was not safe to cart heavy loads owing to the severe frosts. There have been 30 tons of etoue sent to the battery for the week. The Cocksparrow dredge.— lhe manager reiwrts for the week :— " We have dredged 115 hours for 330z ldwt amalgam. The ground i» getting a little easier to work, there being fewer large boulders. We bad the bottom for about 20ft, but 'owing to the river going so low we have rot been able to get the bottom since Tuesday last. We Lave not room to stow the tailings, and are obliged to leave some wanhdirt underneath us, vhich I believe to be the richest dirt."
