THE WOOL SALES.
London, July 16. An inferior selection was offered at tho London wool sales to-day, but bidding was spirited and prices remain firm. July 17. At tbe Antwerp wool sales there was a large attendance and brisk competition. Two thousand four hundred and ten bales were offered, of which 1426 were sold, from 5 to 10 per cent, above the April rates. The wool sales are animated and competition keen. Prices remain firm. The series close on the 31st. July 21. ! At tbe wool sales a good selection was offered, and tha bidding was spirited in all quarters. American firms were buying largely. Prices were unchanged. The French representatives operated largely in New Zealand greasy merinos. The Antwerp salea closed very firm, with pi ices unchanged. The total quantity catalogued up to date at the Eoglish sales is 261,000 bales, of which 246,000 bales are sold. July 22. There is fair competition at the wool sabs, and prices are maintained. Americans are buyiDg heavily. j
