M r R- ad then presented Mrs Mason wjth a boaatiful hymn book. a'i a slight recognition of har valuable services in connection with church fvork. The Rev. James Gumming, on behalf of the Kirk Sesion of the Cromwell Presbyterian Church 1 , presented Mr Mason with a handsomely bound volume of Young's " Concordance," in recognition of the services rendered to the Presbyterian Church by Mr Mason, who had always been willing to assist them. After the presentation first-class refreshments were handed round by the ladies of the congregation. After supper, Mr Warburton, on behalf of the teachers of the district, made a short speech showing the secular excellencies of Mr Mason, who had always proved himself an excellent neighbour, and who had always taken keen interest in the local branch of the Kducational lu-titute. More musical items brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. Borough Council— L-ist Fiiday's Dunatan Times contains a g<zette notice giving the final awaid in the matter of the Cromwell bridge. Nothing defi'ite has yet been heard about the Edition from the borough, which will in all ps»ability have to shell out.
