Reefton, July 20.
Midday Quotations — Big River, 18s 8d to 193 6d ; Buller dredge, 5s (5i to 6s ; Cumberlat.d, 2s to 2s 0d; Cocksparrow dredge, 2s to 2s Od ; Glohe, 5i to 5s 6d ; Exchange, 4(1 to 5d ; HeicuJ^s, Is (id to Is 9d ; Keep-it- Dark, Hi- Cd to 17s 6d ; Progress, 14s to 15* ; Lyell Creek, 3s to 3s 6 1 ; Lord Edward, Is (3d to 1« Od ; No. 2 South Dark, 81 to lOJ ; Alpine, 4s 6d to 5s Gtl ; Wealth, 8s to 8s b'd ; Welcome, Is 4d to Is Bd. Returns. — Heieules, Sim amalgam from 81 tons of stone; Keep-it-Dark, 80 jz amalgam from 80 tons ; Progress, 218oz amalgam from 220 tons ; Globe, lOlh-z amalgam from 120 torn (all' top plates). The Big River had to stop winding quartz, the wheel being frozen and not safe to work, as the brake would not act. Crushing will be resumed wi'h a change of weather. Buller Dredge — No return, the alterations and repairs taking longer than wa.s anticipated. It is expected the dredge will work full time after to-day.
A report has just been received from the Big River as follows: — "Have struck reef in No. 4 level.' It appearß to be a large body of stone, showing gold freely. Report more fully in a day or two."
