The girls of Beecher Hall, University of Chicago, have organised a suicide club. The number of persons arriving in the colony for June was 1134, and the number of departures was 1750. At a meeting of the council of the Middle District of New Zealand University on the 17th a committee was appointed to ascertain what reserves are available in the middle dittrict. Captain Russell said it was desirable to move as soon as possible in the direction of getting the Government to set aside 20,000 acres or . more of Native land. In the course of 50 or 100 years such a reserve would become a magnificent property. Mr Hogg stated that a reserve of 20 acres in Masterton was bringing in £600 a year, and before long the revenue from it would probably be about £1000.
