AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE.

Auckland, May 15. Mr Kaye (of the firm of Kaye and Carter, of Chriatchurch) and Mrs Kaye, who came from the south to attend the wedding of Miaa M'Corquodale, had a startling experience last night. They drove down in a cab to catch the 30 minutes past 10 p.m. ferry. The cab pulled up just outside the waiting room on the tee. Mrs Kaye alighted and walked over tho wharf into the water. Her huabiind immediately sprang to her assistance, but as be was unibla to swim the driver of the cab (Wiley) went overboard to the assistance of Mrs Kaye, and kept her afloat until a boat was launched from the ferry steamer and picked both up. In the meantime the bystanders had thrown a lifebuoy to Mr Kaye, which he seenred. He was also picked up by the boat, and both were landed on board the ferry steamer little the worse for their immersion. It was very dark and raining at the time. The accident occurred through the lady thinking she was on the main ferry tea. Great credit is due to Wiley for the plucky manner in which he went to the rescue of Mrs Kaye.
