With reference to the confeeoion of tb,e rjaan Evison that ho was the cause of the death o£ a girl in England, the girl's disappearance does not eeem to have attracted notice in Nottingham, and she was not apparently missed, f6r Eviaon stayed three months and scanned the newspapers, but saw no reference to her being missing or her body being found. As to Bvison's mental condition, Constable Forbes lays he has known him for two years as steady and rather morose, but answering pleasantly when spoken to. He regards him as an intelligent, self-possessed man, who fuHy understands all he is doing. Evison spoko freely about tho matter, in a way which showed he was in possession of all hi 3 senses. Evison, before leaving Hamilton in custody for Auckland, made » statement giving an acconnt of his life, signed it, and gave it to Constable Forbes, who brought it to Auckland, but itfi contents have not been disclosed.
