SENIOR FLAG MATCHES.

Kaikoiui v. Cavijkkh vm A good deil of iutete^fc was umo in the meeting of the K-.ikomi and Cmisban Fir»G Fifteens, wh'ch took place at St Okie Park on Saturday before a large number of spectators. Mr A. Downes coutrolltd tbe game. Opening with great spirit C'aversliMn penned Kaikorai in their quarters for come tioao. The passing of the hillirten soou changed the scene of operatic ns, and despite admirable defensive play on the part of Caversham Woods, Cunuingham, and Armit scored in quick succes&ion. The Intter score was ths result of a beautiful bit of passing. Torrance transferred to Duucan, who sent the ball on to Cuuningham, the latter transferring to Armit. K'nvig converted the try. The Cavcrslum made a brilliant rally, but Sinclair and Duncan broke away, and Cunniugh'im scored, Kinvig being ag*tn successful with tha kick. Sixteen point? were registered against Caversham when ends were changed. It was sojn evident the lately promoled juniors were overmatched, for no sooner did they relievo the pressure ttun the Kaikorai backs swooped down on their lines once more. Armit, Woods, Cunningham, and Armit again crcssed the Caversham lines, one of the tries being converted by Kinvig and another by H. Wilkinson. The game thus ended in a decisive win for l*st year's premiers, the score being : Kaikorai ... 32 points Caversbam ... Nil ZINOAUI-RICHMOND V. PIOATBS. The match between the Zingari-Richmoud and Pirates Clubs was played on the Carisbrook ground, which, though somewhat heavy, was otheiwise iv good condition. M'Farlaue won the toss for the former, who played for the first; spell from tbe pavilion end. The Pirat-s at the outset assumed the offensive, but the play was subsequently removed to their quarters, and M'Farlane ran in practically unopposed, the Blacks appealing on the groußd that he had run in touch. Williamson took the kick, which was an easy one, and placed a goal The next Bcire was also credited to the Zingari, whose forwards broke away from «. live out, and carried the fl»g up to their opponents' linei, where the bull was healed out to A Fordyoe a? d by him passed to Williamson, who flipped round and goi iv at the coriier, the kick, however, btii g ineffectual. The Pir/ttes then placed the visitors on tho delusive, good passing having this effect, and Shund aud Noill in succession were witbin an ace of scoring. The Zingari worked hard to beat their oppoueuta off, »i.d tho zeal of oue of their number exceeding his diecre'iori the Pirates were awarded a tree kick, fr.>m wLich Priest placed a goal. In the fcecond npc-11 the Zingari assumed the aggressive, and A. Fordyco secured a sharp mark about the twenty -fivo live. M'Farlnne took a kick at goal, and had hard lines in not scoring, the ball striking one cf the uprights and bouuding back iuto the field of play. M'Farlane subsequently cut off a pass, and had only the Pirates full back in front of him wheu he slipped. The Pirate* hftd tho a.dvaut»g; iv the latter part of tbe gamo, aud Piiest made a good bid for a try shortly before no side, the score theu being : Zingari- Rich- Pirates ... 3 poiuts lnond ... 8 poiuts Dunedin v. Umvßitam The match between the Danedin and University Clubs, played at the Caledonian ground, attracted only a limited number of spectator*. Mr Smeatou acted as referee, and Dr Ross and Mr G. Stepbenson as line umpires. In the first spell, in which Dunedin placed against a light wind, the play was of a give-and-take order till J. G. Maedonald secured the ball, and Richardson and Boyd failing to stop him, scorer! behind the posts, Cran failing bo convert. Dunediu were not lung in equ»li»iug the tcore, aa (lotwoc passed to M 'Kenzie, and the latter got over near the CGrner flag, Stohr failing with tho kick. Play xv»s, howevor, iznujeai&fcely afterwards carried to the Dunediu lino, and M'Nnb scored, but the kick was a difficult one, and O'Shea's attempt was a failure. The second spell was decidedly in favour of ttu Danedin team, the oval being kapt pretty well within the 'Variety's twen'.y-five all the time. Some excellent passing took place between the D»rk Blues' bucks, and eventually Maaon got postebMon and cleverly icored. Stobr failed with the kick. Tbe pUy was very fast after this, but there was no further score, and the game thus ended in a draw. Scores : Dunedin ... 6 points University ... 6 points Alhambka v. Union. There was a large attendance at the North ground, where the Alhambra and Union teams mut to try conclusions. Since last Be.i*on tho ground has b^eu somewhat improved, but parts of it were still in rather a rough condition. The game was controlled by Mr F. H. Campbell, with Messrs W. Johnston, and J. R M'Connoch:e as line umpires. The play in the first epell was rather interesting. Infringements of the rult- s by oach side were much too frequent, however. The Alhsmbra were awarded ft free kick for offside play on the part of the Union, Aitksn taking the kick. Many of the spectators who were in an excellent position to judge declare that the ball fell fully three feet short of the goal posts, bub the referee gave it as a goal, a dtcision which excited some disapproval. Minn made an ineffectual atti'inpi; to equalise matters, and the Union gave B?me good exhibitions of passing, but there yas no further score in the first spell. Ou crossing over the Alhambra were hird presied, and the game was confined to their quarters for nearly the whole of the epell. Ritchie twice failed with a penalty kick. ArmotroDg nearly scored after a fine run, but when the Albambra shifted the scene of play to the Union quarters it ■eemed as if the Maroons were about to suffer defeat. They rallied, however, and the ball being heeled out to Armstrong he passed to Harris, who transferred to Gibson, the latter scoring near the corner flag, but no goal was kicked. There was no further score, tho game thus ending in a draw, the scores being : Union 3 points Alhambra ... 3point» JUNIOR FL4G MATCHES. Melrose v. Univbhsity Second.
