OTAGO CENTRAL.
The following is a copy of an engrossed address, with 200 signatures attached, forwarded some time ago to Mr Pinkerton, M.H.R., for presentation, through the Premier, to Mr A. Fraser, late inspector on the Otago Central railway co-opera-tive works :— " Alexander Fraser, Esq., inspector of works, Hunterville. Sir,— We, the undersigned past and present cooperative workmen, also the wives and children of the workera located in the vicinity of the Otago Central railway works, would consider it an act of ingratitude were we to allow you to pas 3 from our midst without showing you some humble testimony of your gentlemanly, generous, and humane actions towards us during your inspectorship in the conatruction of the Middlemarch-Hyde section of the Otago Central railway, and hope that this addreßS will tend to impress you that though you are not present in person with us on the works, yon are so in spirit. We trust that you will accept this document aa evidence of our well-wishea for aucce-is and prosperity in your future career, and hope that our loss will prove to be yt-ur gain. Trusting you will cherish this address as a household adornment for the edification of yourself, your wife, and your children, we subscribe our signatures as under."
