SALTBUSH FOR SHEEP PASTURES.
Baron Sir T. Yon Mueller haß kindly sont us a further supply of Atriplex halimotdas for distribution. A small quantity will bo forwarded to any address on receipt of a penny stamp for postage. Baron Yon Mueller, in fowarding the eecond supply, writes :•--« It is highly gratifying; that the Ofcsgo settlers are takiug «ucb an interest in the experiment of naturalise g some of the best Central Australian 6altbushes on the sheep pastures of New Zealand. Theseplantsin their native homes are subject to rather severe nfgbt frosts during the cool eeason, so that the temperature is not likely to sink too far your lowland country for the growth of these atriplexes ; but they may not thrive on every geological formation. They will grow best on slightly ealine soil ... My opinion is that these saltbushes will have for your islands a great future. They cave Bending rock salt to many pastures, and tend to a bealtby state of flocks and even herds."
