Black to play ; can he draw ?
[A correspondent forwards the above with the intimation that he came across it in looking over some MSS. which he believes belonged at one time to the lute Mr U. Coltherd, some time champion of Kughud. In the papers in question the position is set down with the terms Black plays and draws the game." Our correspondent cannot solve the problem. We may say that the solution exhibits a very nice and interesting point in .scientific finishing.— Liverpool Mercury.]
