TO CORRESPONDENTS. Ludo (Gore)" asks:— (l) What is the correct spelling of the game called " knap " ? (2) Is the name derived from knapp, meaning " a summit' or : is it a corruption of Napoleon? (3) A, B, C, D, E, F are playing euchre, sitting in order mentioned — A, C, E playing B, D, F. It is E's deal. F passes, A passes. C passes, and D passes, and E is about to turn it down when B orders him up. E refuses to take it up on the ground that B should have spoken before C and D. Ib E justified in his action?— Answers: (1 and 2) The name of the game is '"Napoleon," or "Nap" for short. (3) See answer la9t week. Put baldly, as in your Question, I think that E can refuse to take it up ; but the very essence of the question is whether B had reasonable time to speak. If he had not, he is not to be bustled out of his right ; but if he had fair time, and then allowed C and D to speak before him without protest, he has lost his right to speak. That is my opinion. 'There is no rule on the point so far as I can find. G. (Milburn) ask« what are the racing colours of Mr Bradley. —Answer : No owner- of that name has registered colours. Paradise Hut (Glenomaru) writes : A bets B that Carbiue started in three Melbourne Cups, win. nine two and running second in one. B bets that Carbine only started in two Melbourne Cups. Would you kindly state the weights Carbine carried, also the placed horses in said races? How many Cups ha 9 Carbine won in Australia? —Answer: Carbine started in only two Melbourne Cups— in 1889, when the placed horses were Bravo 8.1 first, Carbine 10.0 second, and 3Me103 8.12 third; and in 1890, when Carbine 10.5 won, with Highborn 6.8 second, and Correze 7.3 third. -The only other Cup that Carbine has won in Australia is the Sydney Cup. which he took in 1889 with 9.0" and in 1890 with 9.9.
